Posing as her late stepsister Lee in order to protect her infant nephew, Elise DuBois settles into life on the Texas spread of T. K. Burke, the baby's uncle, from whom she fears discovery. Original.
Velda Morgan Sherrod age 95, of Austin "went home" on April 9, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Marvin C. Sherrod
Velda was a high school English teacher at Palo Duro High School in Amarillo, Texas. She was also director of the CVAE program for the Amarillo ISD. After moving to Austin, Texas in 1987 she became a full time writer. She authored two historical romance novels, published by Leisure Books after her 75th birthday. She held book signings at Barnes and Noble and other local book stores in Austin and Bastrop.
Even with all of her time given to Church, writing and teaching, Velda's focus was always her faith and her family. Our Mother lived her life as an example that urged her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to contribute more to this world than they expected or needed to receive. "Count your blessings! To whom much is given, much is expected." As a Christian family we believe she is now with friends and family. We loved her dearly and will miss her always.
Velda and Marvin celebrated life often and danced a million miles across Texas.
