This was a book that had several brief excerpts and finished with several questions that were answered by Camilla or Åsa. It had small excerpts that didn't finish what was to happen. Brief excerpts that had the making of what was to be a murder mystery but ended abruptly. I liked reading these excerpts and will read several of their books on account of reading this.
Only 6 of the 86 pages are the short story. The remaining are excepts from the authors other 2 books, which I had already read and enjoyed. I was hoping for a longer short story, so the price was not worth it. The story itself was good - reminds you to trust your instincts.
Strangers was told from a third person point of view of an unnamed character. He was planning to kidnap a woman so he could do horrible things to her and maybe kill her later.
The plan was for him to appear helpless and need help in order to lift a heavy long desk into the back of his van. Once the woman stopped to help him and went inside the van, he would drive away. It was an almost perfect plan except the first woman he targeted didn't stop to help; the second woman was already inside the man when another man came to help and therefore our unnamed protagonist was again thwarted in his evil intention. He almost succeeded with the third woman until that little plot twist happened. It was funny in a twisted way and actually made me laugh out loud.
Very short story, provided as a teaser with excepts to introduce two of their novels. As short stories go, it was menacing, evocative and interesting. It accomplished its objective; although I chose not to read the excepts, I look forward to reading their books.
