When I was young, my stepfather took us on vacation to Colorado. We went there a few times over the course of the years. I think the last time I was there was when my brother graduated from the Air Force Academy in 1993. When we were there, the group of us went to Cripple Creek, as we had on earlier visits. I've always found Cripple Creek compelling, not necessarily in a "haunted" way, unless history can be said to haunt a town. I always wanted to know more. Thanks to this little book, I know a bit more.
There are few grammar/spelling mistakes in this book (sadly, this has become one of my necessary review components) and the tales it tells are not unusual. It gives an outsider a bit of the Cripple Creek flavor and history but doesn't really give more than an amorphous idea of what Cripple Creek was, at least in the 1980s. It resembles one of the little pamphlets that are sold in gift shops (indeed, this is probably what it is) and I think I wouldn't have begrudged the $3.50 price printed on the back cover.
