Yuuki makes his living crafting things and he's perfectly happy with his life as it is when his childhood friend, or rather childhood foe, Daisuke comes back to their hometown. Daisuke has been making Yuuki do things despite himself ever since they got to know each other, and never has a kind word to say about Yuuki, his choices and his job. Despite all that, when Yuuki suddenly has to find a new place to live, Daisuke lets him stay with him, and after a while Yuuki starts to think that maybe the reason his heartbeat speeds up whenever he's near Daisuke isn't because he's afraid of him..

Okay, first of all: the setting was cute enough and would have worked really well for me - especially because there was lots of lovely angsting on Yuuki's side - if it hadn't been for several things.

1. After having read a novel with the cutest kind of seme, the seme here was absolutely horrible. While I like tsunderes and so haven't a problem with grumpy behaviour as such, Daisuke isn't a tsundere but an asshole. Seriously, he never seems to have a kind word for Yuuki, and the reason he lets him stay at his place is because he wants to make Yuuki "his own" (nooo that's not creepy at all). And when Yuuki realizes he's in love with Daisuke, he doesn't give him the time to get used to it but instead bullies him into having sex with him even though he's clearly not ready (yeah there's no penetration, but when they finally to have penetrative sex it's exactly the same thing). He makes Yuuki feel guilty about the money Daisuke spent on him even though Daisuke fucking lied about it AND he stalks him using his smartphone. Honestly, I knew Miyahara never had a chance, but even though Miyahara was even more of an idiot than Yuuki was, he was preferable to Daisuke.

2. I never got what either really liked about the other. This couple had absolutely zero chemistry for me.

3. The only thing it had going for it - apart from the angst - was the misunderstanding scene with Miyahara and Yuuki which was so facepalmingly stupid it almost hurt, but it made me laugh. Seriously, why the fuck would Miyahara even think Yuuki was complimenting the size of his dick when Yuuki had never even seen it? Compared with the misunderstanding scene in the last novel I read - which was really really good btw - this was so very much an den Haaren herbeizogen that I almost couldn't take it.

Depending on how other books compare in the future, this might even get a one star at some point, but for now I'm sticking with two.
