Han har vunnet litteraturpriser i Norge og utland, og fikk Spellemannsprisen i 1974. Hans seneste utgivelser er De Udødelige (roman, 2011) og Night Song (cd, 2011).

Ketil Bjørnstad is a Norwegian pianist, composer and author. Initially trained as a classical pianist, Bjørnstad discovered jazz at an early age and has embraced the emergence of "European jazz".

He is an artist on the ECM record label, but has also published some 20 books (predominantly novels) and a number of poetry and essay collections.
