The Mystery at Haunted Ridge

Rate this book
It's summertime and twelve-year-old Carrie O'Brien is on her way to a special camp for the San Angelo seventh graders. When she hears about some strange happenings at the campground, she finds herself on the trail of a first-class adventure! As Carrie struggles to make friends with an inactive girl in her Beehive class and to make peace with the camp's trouble-maker,, several bizarre events tell her that things are not as they seem. First, it's a broken dam. Then, when someone trashes the girls' cabin and the school bell disappears, Carrie and her brother, Sean, decide to do some serious investigating. You'll never guess what they find! Along the way, Carrie encounters a treasure map, a ghost town, an insensitive biology teacher, a mysterious phone call, two friendly Christmas-tree salesmen, a witch (yes, a witch!) and a little magic. Some clues take her into dangerous territory; others help her understand the importance of friendship, gospel ties, and facing obstacles head-on. This intriguing mystery unravels in some surprising twists & turns. It's ideal for young readers ages 10 and older who enjoy a good mystery and see gospel-centered solutions to the challenges in their lives.

I liked this sequel to THE MYSTERY OF THE THIRD OAK. Both books are about Carrie who has dyslexia and can hardly read, but she is good at solving mysteries and at playing the trumpet. She's also good at sticking up for the underdog and standing up to bullies.
