Young Women on the Journey

Rate this book
Young women are women at the crossroads. They face a daunting new world and a future they have to make decisions for now. The task can be unnerving as they begin along with them all the uncertainty fr om experiences in childhood through adolescence.
Nevertheless, life-defining decisions have to be made: courses, career, love and marriage. Meanwhile, they are also making vital choices in the undercurrent that become the context for these major decisions. "Am I beautiful and worthwhile?" "What truth do I embrace about myself, this life, this world?" "Who am I and what am I all about"
Young women will identify with and be encouraged by how the writers ages 18-30 are facing and overcoming critical roadblocks as they begin their journey through life. Through their stories, the reader will see how they brought their predicaments and questions before God and found the confidence to continue on with a surer footing. Scripture passages for meditation preceding the story and a memory verse after it will anchor the reader to the truth about one's situation.
Discover the questions that these young women have asked, and find answers for your own.

The young women in this book have chosen to turn to bring their options to God. They brought their past tragedies, present questions, and future plans under the sure wisdom and authority of God’s Word, the Bible. Our contributors have resolved or are in the process of resolving their issues. Our prayer is not only that you will gain wisdom on your particular situation, but that you will see that God is trustworthy in His wisdom and that He loves you.

You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone. 3 You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.
― 2 Corinthians 3:2-3 (NIV)

This is a very inspiring and engrossing book that every girl (and I think even boys) should read.

What I liked in this book:

Different stories from different individuals opened my mind and made me feel overwhelmed as I read and appreciate the thoughts written in this book. This is utterly motivating that I would recommend this to anyone. :)

Furthermore, the overall message is that to survive, we must believe in God wholeheartedly with no doubt. That we should let God help us and comfort us in everything we do.

Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
― Psalm 37:4

Very inspiring stories. Every single one of 'em. :) I once read it at a UV express while caught in a traffic jam and I was literally CRYING. I'm pretty sure people might saw me wiping a hanky on my tear-filled eyes. XD I can't hold it back. It's like, God himself was speaking to me at that moment. Great book. :) To God be all the glory! <3

I bought this book last year. Though it was published way back in 2007, I added it to my (never-ending) TBR list. What drew me in was its unique format: 77 real-life stories written by young women (ages 18–30 at the time), each sharing reflections on faith, life, and God's hand in their personal journeys. Every story is thoughtfully woven with scripture—something I deeply appreciate.

But what truly caught my attention was the foreword by Nikki Gil. She described her life as a blank sheet of paper and shared how she handed the pen back to God to write her story. I decided to follow her—definitely one of the few celebrities worth following.

Instead of reading it all at once, I took my time. I’d read a story during my commute, before starting work, or just before bed. Over time, it became part of my daily devotion. And though it took me a whole year (partly because I’ve been in a slump), I finally finished it two nights ago.

So, in celebration of #NationalBookLoversDay, I’m sharing some quotes that deeply resonated with me—mirroring different seasons and chapters of my own journey:

✨ Story 9: "Making Sense of a God-Stitched Life" by Wawa B. Ponce

“It doesn’t eliminate confusion and pain, but it gives me peace and it humbles me that every minute detail of my life is perfectly God-stitched.”

✨ Story 18: "How Deep is His Love?" by Alexis J. Manansala

“It is not I, but He, who has control over my life.”

📖 1 Corinthians 13:5

✨ Story 20: "A Heart Turned to Papa" by Lea A. Edrosolan

“God proved Himself to be the Father to the fatherless.”

📖 Malachi 4:6

✨ Story 21: "Last Words" by Faye I. Villanueva

“When things seem like they will never happen, God works things out. It is never too late to experience the things we missed in our lives.”

📖 Ecclesiastes 3:11

✨ Story 23: "To Give Me Hope and a Future" by Chalice Grail A. Avarientos

“In the face of each hardship, I worked religiously to the task… while trusting God that all these would come to pass.”

📖 Jeremiah 29:11

✨ Story 33: "What Fuels You?" by Julianne Tarroja

“There was no excuse not to make God a priority no matter how piled up my life got.”

📖 Romans 12:2

✨ Story 49: "Out of My Comfort Zone" by Cecile Corvera

“God sometimes calls us to live out of comfort zones to teach us what it really means to have faith.”

📖 2 Corinthians 9:8

✨ Story 60: "Quarter-Life Crisis" by Ai Tolentino

“Only in investing my life in others to see them grow in Christ-likeness can I accomplish anything of eternal value.”

📖 John 15:5

✨ Story 71: "Surrender" by Charissa R. Pajaron

“God meets us when we are at our lowest point. And my lowest point became my turning point back to God.”

📖 Matthew 10:39

✨ Story 77: "May I Have My Gift Now?" by Rochelle Mendoza-Martin

“God’s much better plan prevailed. My timeline was delayed for me to greatly appreciate what God had in store.”

📖 Psalm 34:8

This little book has been my companion—always tucked in my bag, always ready to remind me of God’s presence.

Now, as I near the end of my twenties, I’m still becoming the woman God wants me to be. And I’m grateful for books like this that meet me where I am, one story at a time.

I love this book just like how I love the one who gave it to me. Compilation of testimonies and you'll just see how faithful and great our God is to the lives of these people. When I am down, I just like re-reading it all over again and realizing that if He can do those great things to them, how much more to me :) Nothing is impossible in Christ who loves us so vastly.
