Redesigning God: Nuts and Bolts of the Emerging Religion

Rate this book
Inspirational, logical, and visionary, Redesigning God sketches the outline of a religious attitude that has been evolving in human consciousness for decades. This is a cautiously optimistic and profoundly friendly religion that confirms and encourages the deepest values in the heart of man. It is free of the traditional threats and manipulations, does not depend on mindless assent and obedience, and honors fully the dignity of all humankind. It is not averse to the insights of Christianity, science, or Eastern religions. Tracing that vision, Redesigning God asks what a religion would look like if it took seriously the idea that God is love and developed it thoroughly and consistently.

REDESIGNING GOD is currently available on these electronic devices: Kindle, iPad, iPod, and Nook. It is available electonically from Amazon, iTunes, iBookstore, Lulu.com, and Barnes and Noble. A paperback version may be found at Amazon.

As for me, I was raised in a conservative Southern Baptist Church. Yes, really! When I took LSD—yes, really—all that stuff bubbled up from the subconscious. Psychosis! Again and again. I have been an atheist several times. A college friend, ca. 1969, introduced me to mystical religion through a book called "Frontiers of Being," and later introduced the writings of Alan Watts. I have been thoroughly psychologized, psychiatrized, and analyzed. Somewhere along the line, I came across "Metaphysical Meditations" by Paramahansa Yogananda and discovered what a REAL religion of love looks like. This dude told me that God was in ME as much as anyone else, and that I could see him in others as well. It's the Truth of truths and King of Secrets. The number of religious trips I've sampled is legion. I favor Advaita Vedanta, having majored, at one time or another, in both philosophy and psychology. Now, I'm sitting in silence every week with the Quakers here in a mid-sized Northern town.
