I feel all grown up - I’ve read an actual gardening book cover to cover! A little bit dated in places, but I enjoyed the gentle humour & honesty that ran through the book. My approach to gardening is 100% chemical free, so my viewpoint did differ from the authors in some parts, but an informative & interesting read nonetheless.

For beginner gardeners this is extremely useful. I especially liked the sections on compost and taking cuttings. I also really enjoyed the way the author started out like a jolly fellow mad gArdener trundling round in inappropriate clothing; however part way through I realised I thought of her more as a nagging old aunt, clever, but more wagging finger than I had expected originally. Glad I read it, and glad I have it for reference, but not rushing off to read another.
