There were many things I liked about this book, here are a few--
1)On finding your own style: "One disadvantage is that no one can show you exactly how to get to where you want to go. You must find your own way... It won't happen the first time you pick up a brush. But it will happen--one day all of your efforts fall into place."
2)The idea of finding what you were trying to say by doing a "series" on a subject you are interested in.
3)Discussed thoughts on artistic tolerance: "Just as artistic respect demands that our own voice be heard, so too should we consider the voices of others. This doesn't mean that we have to like everyone's work... but it does mean that we have to make the effort to find out what it's trying to say...When we dismiss another work outright, purely on the basis of subject or technique, we diminish the life and experience of its creator. Each is an expression of the other."
4) Beautiful artwork to show concepts being discussed.
5) Ended with a "Moving On" Epilogue--"Whatever you are is never enough. You must find a way to add something..."
