This book was short, simple, and to the point. Being a Disney book I was expecting more in depth detail. The author mentions training, importance of outstanding leadership, and employee recognition. He gives a few ideas of ways to recognize employees such as giving out special pins, having contests, and making employees feel special. However he does not go in depth about ways employees are trained, what exactly is needed to be a good leader, or how to develop rapport with staff. He mentions the importance of relationships but not much detail about how to form those relationships.
Let me start off by saying that I truly enjoyed the lessons Pete Blank taught in this book; especially the chapter regarding recognition methods. It was a quick and fun read. In my opinion, there were a few topics that left me wanting more though - more detail, more examples, more concrete action steps. The concepts were not new to me, but Blank's presentation of them was. I finished the reading with several ideas to bring back to my team to enhance our current programs for employee engagement. I would recommend this book to leaders of any level in an organization as it provides fresh perspectives and is full of Disney magic!
Book details how to become a more effective leader by realizing the importance of employee engagement on all levels of the organizational chart. Many suggestions for employee engagement are at our fingertips we must be open minded and receptive to new ideas.
