I thought it was a GREAT story and I loved all the art on it and in it. My kids really enjoyed this being read to them during the Christmas season. This isn't a traditional Christmas story. It's full of whimsical and fun reasons as to why we do what we do at Christmas. From decorating trees, to putting lights on the houses. There is no particular religious reasons for things, but it still manages to include the star of Bethlehem to the lighting of the Menorah. All encompassed within a fantasy-like framework of Mother Earth and fantasy creatures like dragons and elves.

I love this story! Just to get that out there first and foremost. It's terrific. Just when you think all the tales of how and why the magic of Christmas works (among other things), this story comes about and WOWs you!

This story is very well written making it easy to imagine the entire tale taking place in the past just as it says it did in the book. The descriptions are outstanding so you see the forests and the characters so clearly in your mind. The opening scenes set up what is to come absolutely perfectly leading into the story in a way that works brilliantly. I don't want to give the story away at all, so I'll stop here but you should probably go read it now if you are reading this.

This story is one that doesn't take a whole lot of time to read, leaves a lasting impression, and could easily become a new tradition in Christmas tales to tell in front of the tree.
