Disguise For Death
It has been twenty-three years since Aoife Cusack last attended confession. Her guilt over the intervening years parted her from religion, but now she desperately wants to atone for her twenty-three years ago she took part in a heinous incident that led to the deaths of six people.
But Aoife is not the only one whose thoughts are dwelling on the events of that day. Recently released from prison, Liam Sullivan, Aoife's ex-boyfriend and leader of an IRA cell, has written a best-selling autobiography detailing his part in the Windsor bombing of 1981. It seems the public can't get enough of the gory facts. His much-publicised reading is packed to the rafters, but not everyone is there out of idle curiosity. Superintendent Gregory Summers has been dragged along by his girlfriend, Angie, who wants to study Sullivan as part of her degree. Much to his surprise he finds Deepak Gupta, his colleague, also at the reading. It's not long before Gregory discovers the real reason behind Deepak's attendance; his sister was one of Sullivan's victims.
With Sullivan back on the outside and old scars reopened by his profiteering, it's not surprising that the situation soon turns violent. Delving into one of the most complex cases of his career, Gregory Summers must ask himself if a murderer who has evaded justice can find redemption in their own way, or if society's lust for revenge can only be satisfied by courts, juries and prison bars.
