I think this book or later versions by C. P. Hill is a must. For those interested in the plight of the British people over the last 300 years. I've come to the conclusion that the British Governments in power, upto the war of 1939. Kept the vast majority of the British public under their heel. They passed legislation to keep the power to themselves, Aristocrats, Landowners, Merchants and later Factory owners.
Reading this book, if the British population were like the French. There could well've been a revolution after 1815, not to mention 1918! But drastic regulations were enforced, which stopped this happening.

This book is not a novel, but enlightens the reader as to what happened to our ancestors.
