Windy Webley

Rate this book

Webley is a fine black army horse, ridden by a soldier called Fred. But he is not a very GOOD army horse. When he gets bored, he crosses his eyes, drops his ears out sideways and hangs his tongue out. And when he gets very bored, he lifts his tail and makes a very rude noise . . .

A delightful and light-hearted horsey tale, perfect for young readers.

Once upon a time, K. M. Peyton (also known as Kathleen Herald), was a great writer of horse books. Sabre, the Horse from the Sea was only one of very few books that made me cry ... with joy. Fly-by-night is an absolute classic.

And in 1997, K. M. Peyton decided she was a comedian. In Windy Webley, we get a farting horse. He's Irish, so he says, "Begorrah!" The tourists at Buckingham Palace who want their pictures taken with Webley are Japanese.

Shouldn't have quit your day job, Peyton.
