Re Ice into Fire - this one was a bit icky for me. The h is a 24 yr old fashion editor who has been seeing the son of the media conglomerate who owns the magazine she works for. She is in severe shock and denial over the break up of her parents 30 year marriage. She doesn't want to fall in love but she is thinking about experiencing sex. She doesn't want marriage or a serious relationship, she thinks a nice, light- hearted affair may be the way to go.

The man she is seeing offers her a weekend in his family's skiing chalet. She has a Paris model shoot to sort, but she thinks she may go and maybe sleep with her friend. She wants to get the virginity thing out of the way (or at least that is implied) and her friend is offering a no commitment, no strings fun time.

She gets to the chalet and the friend had to cancel. She meets a man called Johnny Black who says he is a family friend too. They spend some time together and he keeps trying it on with the h, but she is not saying yes. Then we find out Johnny Black is an alias of the h's friend's step brother and CEO of the conglomerate. He wants to marry the h in an open, no ties marriage. The h still isn't saying yes.

Then the h gets hit in the head by someone off the chair lift. While she is recuperating in bed the H forcibly seduces her and then insists they marry but have an open marriage. He was married to a model once before, who left him promptly after the wedding ceremony and wants to try again (as soon as she gets her current divorce.) The H wants a wife, preferably one who is up for sex but nothing else together. (His reasoning made no sense, but then most of this book makes no sense.)

The h is still concussed or just on drugs, cause she marries the H. Then she falls in love and there is lots of angst. The angst comes in when the H starts giving every woman he comes across a ride on his Tower of Power - and still rapes the h in between ride offerings until she likes it. This lady list includes one of the other female executives of a company they conglomerate wants to buy and the ex wife - who he tells the h she has to use for a modeling job.

When he thinks the h is sleeping with another man besides him (for all his open marriage garbage, he is remarkably possessive of the h), he brings the ex-wife home and bangs her next door to the h's room. She hears them before she leaves for the morning. (See why I am so icked now, I am still showering after this one.)

Upon her return, the ex-wife is blatant and tacky with the usual OW things right in front of the H and the h packs to leave. Except she gets hit by a car on her way out and the H leaves on a business trip. But he thoughtfully also makes the ex wife stay to care for the h - the h gets the ex-wife to chase after the H though - she tells her she won't have any modeling jobs for her anytime soon, but if the OW hurries, she can catch the H's plane before he leaves.

The h goes home and winds up staying at her original friend's home, (the H's step-brother,) - I am lost as to why she did not have her own place - but the H calls there and finds out she is at his brother's and loses his temper again.

Then the h gets a note to meet the H at the chalet, and since she is so in love and anguished, she goes. It is pretty obvious the H wasn't expecting her, and we find out that the H's father arranged the meeting. The H is getting busy with the ladies in the village and the h goes for a walk on the mountain, gets lost and injures her knee.

The H shows up looking for her, she confesses her love - he supposedly loved her from the first time he saw her and HEA. He says he never slept with half the ladies, but that still leaves the other half open and there is no explanation for the ex-wife in the room next to the h. I guess the h doesn't care tho, and hopefully in the future will keep a standing appointment for monthly STD screenings - with this one she is going to need it, so it is a good thing the H is rich and can afford private health care.

Surprisingly there is a lot of high ratings of this one, but I wasn't one of them and I will be glad to forget this one for another 30 years or so. Recommended only for the die hard Lilian Peake fans.

If I'm not mistaken, this would be the first Lilian Peake that I read. And boy oh boy... what the heck was that? It was like riding on a roller coaster and I really wanted to scream.

I just couldn't find the correct words to describe the heroine and the Hero. heroine wanted to have love-less (full of sex) relationship and the Hero wanted a love-less (but full of sex) marriage. They agreed on something : the love-less (full of sex part). But when heroine made friends with other men, Hero got angry bird and when Hero got friendly with other women (plus the ex-wife thing), heroine got crazy haha.

Have you ever felt a strong urge to smash two rocks into each other? That's what I felt when I read about the two. Honestly!

But they really had full of sex sex sex sex... not really descriptive like today's standards but sex sex sex hahahahaha....

This one was just not my cuppa tea.
The h had some very strange ideas and the way she cut her parents dead because they dared to get a divorce after 30 years of raising her was to my thinking irrational. She came across as very childish I thought (and I say this as a child of divorced parents). I know peeps handle stuff differently but I though she was extreme in her views and the fact she said it made a lie of her childhood grrr it made my blood boil!
H was also a prat although much nicer in his alter ego character.
Please see Boogenhagens review for the full low down as typing this is making me angry

Didn't work for me. She has some hangups on love and marriage because her parents divorced. But the author doesn't bother to build on this premise, its just a one line statement. So all the girl's reluctance to love doesn't evoke enough sympathy.

The guy has had a lousy first marriage, and is ok with marriage with lots of sex and no love. Sounds like his idea of heaven !

What next, marriage, sex. After some eminently forgettable scenes, she realizes that she can't do that loveless marriage thing after all. And he is ok with this too. Because he has also suddenly discovered that he fell in love with her on Day 1 itself !!

So they just come across as thick skulled and horny idiots. Nothing to hold the reader's interest.
