Ted Andrews was an internationally recognized author, storyteller, teacher, and mystic. A leader in the human potential, metaphysical, and psychic fields, he wrote over 36 books which have been translated into more than two dozen foreign languages. He was featured on many national and local TV and radio programs every year. He won more Visionary Awards than any other author.

Ted was a worldwide acclaimed speaker and teacher. He presented sold-out seminars to thousands of people throughout the US and Canada every year, and his appearances were just as popular and in demand in the United Kingdom, Europe and parts of Asia. In May 2002 he was specially invited to speak to the UNSRC at the United Nations in New York for his writings and work with animals.

This award-winning and best-selling author was involved in the serious study of the esoteric and occult for more than 40 years, and he brought to the field an extensive formal and informal education. He served the public school system for ten years as a teacher and counselor, 7 of which were spent working with disadvantaged students, creating a special needs reading program for which he received both local and state recognition.

Called a true Renaissance man, Ted was trained in music, playing the piano since the age of 12. He composed, performed and produced the music for ten audiocassettes. He could even scratch out a tune or two on the violin/fiddle. He was a longtime student of sacred dance, ballet and Kung Fu. Ted was also schooled in a variety of related holistic healing modalities, including music therapy, herbology, hypnotherapy, acupressure and other alternative techniques. A clairvoyant since childhood, he was also a certified spiritualist medium for nearly 30 years.

Probably best known for his work with animals, Ted held state and federal permits to work with birds of prey. He performed wildlife rescue and worked in wildlife rehabilitation and education. He conducted animal education and storytelling programs with his animals in school classrooms throughout the year, giving freely of his own time and expense to help young people discover the wonder of animals and nature. In his spare time, he enjoyed hanging out with his menagerie of animals, training and playing with his horses and ballroom dancing.

If you are interested in learning the metaphysical meaning of your name, then this book is must read! Traditional name meaning resources stick to historical and cultural meanings, while this book includes the spiritual essence behind your name. Our names are like magical words that carry vibrations and codes which determines the path of our life. The power and sounds of words are like spells which weave our destiny and purpose here on earth. Each vowel and sound carries power that enables us to awaken to our energetic patterns revealing secret information about our soul and essence. By learning the esoteric meaning of your name, this allows you to use your name as a talisman, spell, magical tool for enlightenment, expansion, and evolution. A great portion of the book focused on the history of magical and sacred naming practices, and also spent a great deal of time on sacred vowels. In ancient times, vowels were considered the most sacred as consonants cannot be discerned without vowels. The primary vowel sounds in your name- especially your first name tells you which elemental kingdom you have come to work with, and they can assist you in expressing your own creativity. Each vowel is linked to an element and combining this with your astrology is helpful and insightful. For example; I have a lot of water in my Astrology, but my primary vowels are Ether- so I have come to link the Ether with all 4 elements- bringing everything into balance.

There was a great discussion on the esoteric meanings of the letters themselves which was both unique and incredibly eye opening along with both the positive and negative traits of each vowel. The sound meanings of the vowels were also included along with the musicality of names. The best part of the book was the Metaphysical Dictionary of Names. Common names were included alphabetically and provided a page long analysis of the spiritual meaning. This was profound and enlightening. Looking at my own name, I could see just how accurate and eye opening it was for me. I highly recommend this book for anyone who would like to learn more about their name, who is thinking about changing their name, or is in the process of choosing a name for a baby. A remarkable read! And as the famous saying goes “know thyself.”

I wish the author explained how to determine what your primary vowel sound is up front. I read more than 100 pages and still had no idea how to figure it out. Finally I searched the book for it and it was like 200 pages in. So you read all this stuff about primary vowel sounds without knowing how it relates to you. Then when you get to the instructions to determine what your primary vowel is it still wasn’t very clear. I had to jump to the back of the book to the examples to figure it out.
