I read this series to clarify what went on in the anime. It entirely failed. The manga, in English at least, is completely incomprehensible. There is no resolution or growth of the situation; only the same characters, who have no real depth or growth, doing the same thing, over and over and over. The action scenes are confusing; in black and white it is very difficult to determine the different megadeuces from each other. While the anime is to some extent also somewhat confusing, it is a world better than the manga and does come to some kind of resolution at the end of season one.
