It's the night before Christmas on Sesame Street the Honkers were silent, the Grouch was asleep, the count dreamed of counting, Ernie was in his stockings and Bert was in his cap, every monster lay sleeping, except a monster named Elmo. Elmo has decided to wait up for Santa to give him a very important message. Four bright, board ornaments are included in that kids can slip into the pages to complete the scenes. When they are done reading, they can hang the ornaments on their own Christmas tree.
This is a very brief--but very sweet--book. It focuses on Elmo's (of Sesame Street fame) experience on Christmas Eve. It is a play on "The Night Before Christmas." For a little kid, this would be a delightful bauble.
Only five pages of text, but to a small tyke, this would be a lot of fun. Elmo is excited about Santa's visit. He left cookies and milk. But heard nothing.
But--next morning--there were the gifts and "He began jumping for joy."
The art work is fine and the story short but just right for children.
I thought this book was so cute and colorful for the little ones to begin their journey of learning to read. It gets the little ones excited for Christmas with an iconic character. Super cute read!
Elmo tries to stay awake for Santa but can't quite make it. He and Dorothy the goldfish both fall asleep. Fortunately, Santa does visit and leave toys under the tree :)
