Johnny Lee Wilson was born in and eventually attended high school (Ernest Righetti) in Santa Maria, California, after spending much of his early life in California's Central Valley. After attending California Baptist University (then, CBC) on a drama scholarship, he went on to earn two magisterial degrees and one doctoral degree before pastoring several churches and teaching as an adjunct professor.

When he lost his teaching position based on a bogus doctrinal dispute, he entered journalism full-time with Computer Gaming World magazine. Later, he became Group Publisher of Hasbro's/Wizards of the Coast's Amazing Stories, Dragon, Dungeon, Star Wars Gamer, Star Wars Insider and TopDeck magazines.

Later, he parlayed his computer journalism experience and his advanced degrees into teaching at Art Institute of Atlanta, Illinois Institute of Art of Chicago, and DePaul University's College of Computing and Digital Media. Parallel to his teaching career, Johnny served as interim pastor and part-time pastor of churches in Atlanta and the Chicago area.

This has got to be one of the most hilarious books or manuals on a computer game that I've ever read! I just loved it! (I've got to dig it out of my moving boxes and read it again. :)
...
It's written like a humorous & light travel guide. Unfortunately, it set me up to expect as much balance & care in the completeness plus humor of a manual that I have only been disappointed by a decade of subsequent game manuals.(*)...

((*)I'm not sure they make game manuals anymore. However, I have been impressed by the novelization of some games, such as The Settlers of Catan novel by Rebecca Gablé....)
