Prayer and Multiple Intelligences: Who I Am is How I Pray

Rate this book
Each of us chooses a different path in our search for a deep relationship with God. Some of us find joy in sacred music or dance. Others prefer silence and meditation, or imitating other holy people, or communing with nature. Throughout history the approaches to prayer have been as many and varied as those who made the journey undertake the spiritual journey. The one constant, though, has been that all the paths spring from the multiple intelligences people possess and through which they learn and communicate best. In clear, insightful prose rich with real-life examples, Bernadette Stankard discusses these intelligences and how they enable us to pray “as we are” and so develop a deeper friendship and intimacy with the God whose love transforms us. Prayer and Multiple Intelligences is a must-read for every person seeking their own unique, intense way of relating to God.

I wholeheartedly support the theory of multiple intelligences and its use in Christian Education and spiritual formation. Bernadette Stankard is a Catholic Christian who shares a number of suggestions for using the MIs to build relationship with God. I read the book in an evening. There are some good suggestions here, some of which were already familiar to me, and others that helped me in my areas of weakness.

I hadn't heard about multiple intelligences listed like this before - it shed some light on who I am. Interesting!
