Alison Uttley (17 December 1884 – 7 May 1976), née Alice Jane Taylor, was a prolific British writer of over 100 books. She is now best known for her children's series about Little Grey Rabbit, and Sam Pig.
A mix of some brilliant essays – Light, Dreams, The Button-Box – and lesser essays, with one or two boring ones: More Singing Games and Magic seems to no more than a catalogue of singing games. Overall, though, the book is a fascinating reflexion of a past world.
