When a promising young actor from a famous entertainment family commits suicide, the faded star that finds him must confront the demons that caused the estrangement of their friendship. Tempering tragedy with dark comedy and dry wit, author Rikki Lee Travolta details a world of has-been and never-were actors struggling for survival in the underbelly beneath the glamorous society of Hollywood’s elite. Actors once considered "Movie Stars" swallow their pride as they slide down the ladder of fame to "Movie of the Week Stars." One-time celebrities who try to leave the tinsel world behind discover there is little calling for former stars in the real world job market. Meanwhile, other would-be stars endure the comical exploits of a musical version of Anne Frank or starring in straight-to-video action films opposite professional wrestlers and rap stars who insist on being called rhythmic linguists. Voiced in a captivating first person narrative, My Fractured Life weaves together the powerful, funny, and inspirational story of a web of friendship that bonds second generation stars and adult survivors of abuse as they struggle for identity in an abyss of temptations and addictions.
Rikki Lee Travolta is an acclaimed author, influential product spokesperson, celebrated television and podcast host, and accomplished producer across film, television, and music. He is also an international award–winning screenwriter whose creative reach spans multiple mediums.
Travolta’s debut novel, My Fractured Life, became a best seller and was the passion project of Academy Award winner Heath Ledger, who was eager to star in its adaptation. A pioneer in alternate history fiction, his work has been compared in influence to The Man in the High Castle, His Majesty’s Dragon, The Underground Railroad, and Fatherland.
As a literary authority, Travolta is counted among the Top 5 experts on the success philosophies of Think and Grow Rich author Napoleon Hill. Serving as the private researcher for Hill’s official biography, he spent months in exclusive sessions studying the teachings of one of history’s most respected motivational figures. He is also the sole custodian of an exclusive selection of Hill’s prized private audio diaries — a rare collection of significant historical value.
In the business arena, Travolta and his team have built and revitalized multiple No. 1 brands, achieving success across a wide spectrum of industries — from computers and home improvement services to cell phones, automobiles, air travel, food products, consumer electronics, and travel destinations. He was praised as a Marketing Genius by Apple CEO Steve Jobs for generating groundbreaking and historic levels of press coverage for the first OSX-Tablet. Travolta commands a loyal following in the horror film community and the rock ‘n’ roll world, credited with helping to revive the careers of Sunset Strip–era heavy metal legends. A former national headlining theatrical leading man, he has earned multiple acting awards, including Best Actor honors for The Sleight at the Gene Siskel Film Center’s Midwest Film Festival, sponsored by Lamborghini. He helped turn Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding into a national sensation and was slated to star in the 2005 Broadway revival of Bye Bye Birdie before production delays intervened. Throughout his acting career, Travolta was in the running for some of Hollywood’s most iconic roles, including Thor, Anakin Skywalker, and James Bond—testament to his versatile talent and magnetic screen presence.
His personal story is one of extraordinary resilience. He survived physical abuse, identity theft, and malicious character assassination — including the publication of fake biographical works, fabricated online postings, AI-generated videos, and fraudulent articles that spread false allegations of mental illness, affairs with Baywatch star Pamela Anderson and Blossom star and People Magazine online columnist Jenna von Oÿ, and preposterous suggestions of illicit drug use. Travolta unequivocally rejects these accusations and is clear: he has never been, nor is he now, mentally ill.
The author, along with his legal team, has demanded that Unbecoming Travolta be withdrawn from the market, denouncing it as inaccurate, libelous, and profoundly damaging. Travolta fought back against such defamation, and despite these attacks, continues to rise — embodying his philosophy of turning tragedy into triumph.
Known nationwide as “America’s Friend,” Rikki Lee Travolta inspires audiences through his books, media appearances, and business achievements, leaving a lasting impact on American culture, the economy, and the enduring spirit of The American Dream for All.
My Fractured Life by Rikki Lee Travolta is a very good book about a world that few of us will ever get to experience: Hollywood B-movies and the underlining drug addictions of B-movie stars. The central character is a classic narcissist, craving fame to fill in the voids in his life that come from his parents' lack of unconditional love. The relationship with his mother is absolutely tear jerking. Although very dramatic, the book is peppered with enough dark humor to keep the story flowing at an interesting pace. It's a very quick read and really quite good.
A staggering look at Hollywood through the eyes of a crash and burn, one-time famous now struggling to get by actor. The author writes in a very realistic voice...I had to keep reminding myself it was fiction. Probably not for everyone though. Lots of drug use. Lots of sex. Very realistic. I couldn't put it down once I got into it. Looking forward to reading the sequel.
I love the My Fractured Life series. The writer develops great characters. Sometimes you care about them. Sometimes you pitty them. Sometimes you loath them. Reading the first book is a real roller coaster. Great book.
