Not realizing I bought an older edition until I actually got into it, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. The parenting books I have read so far have been pretty basic in what they cover, and I am excited to get more into specifics now that the baby is here, but despite being just slightly out of date (not nearly as much as I thought) the depth and wide span of topics in this book was pretty cool. I probably wouldn’t read it straight through if I had to do it again, but this is a pretty good resource to just have on the shelf as a new parent, it covers just about every topic you could think of, and while not going into an extreme amount of detail, it gives a springboard to get you started, providing enough comfort to keep anxiety at a minimum while encouraging you to get more information. It doesn’t read like an encyclopedia either, which you might expect from a book in this format. Lots of humor and additional tips. Overall, not a bad one to have on the shelf for coverage on different topics.

For newbie parents like me, this book's highly practical approach and elaboration are significantly helpful in providing the things to expect and look out for in the world of parenting. The coverage is quite wide, yet I think it would be better if there are more images or illustrations on certain parts (handling a baby, breastfeeding positions, etc). However, for parents with children older than age 5, I imagine this book would be less useful
