An Evolving Dialogue: Scientific, Historical, Philosophical, and Theological Perpectives on Evolution

Rate this book
Today, there is virtually no debate about teaching that the earth revolves around the sun. On the other hand, the teaching of evolutionary biology continues to be a controversial matter. The purpose of this volume is to provide a multidiciplinary educational resource for colleges, universities and theological seminaries that will contribute to a constructive understanding of the dialogue between science and religion on the topic of evolution. The articles provide a basic introduction to contemporary evolutionary biology and religious thought, and demonstrate ways in which there can be constructive engagement between evolutionary biology and religious and ethical reflection. Each section begins with a brief introduction that provides the reader with a guide to the articles contained there. The volume concludes with a brief bibliography on evolutionary science, history, philosophy, theology, and ethics.
