Personal Response: I really like this song because it has so much meaning behind it. This song can almost relate to anyone. I think this song was so famous because it was so emotional and really hit home.

Plot: The main meaning of this song is to pretty much not let the haters get to you. She explains how no matter what you say you can't knock her down because she is using all of peoples hate to build herself back up and show them what shes got. It is also saying that you can leave her behind but she will try to get back up from all the memories and live her own life. It also explains how the people who leave her almost like to watch her hurt as they take away everything from her. Like they want to sit there and watch her bleed all of her pain out in the open.When she says she will rise from the ground she is trying to explain how people have died in her life and she needs to leave them behind. Her other meaning for that is she simply just needs to rise and start her life over. Overall the story of this song is truly a love song on how someone left her there bleeding out her pain.How this person didnt care and just left her there with all the memories of the relationship. Also how she had to leave the relationship behind and do her own thing. It also explains the end of love.

Characterization: Demi is a sweet girl in the relationship just wants to keep her boyfriend. The boyfriend has left her there not feeling bad that she was hurt about him leaving.

Recommendation: I think this is a good song for absolutely anyone. Even guys can put themselves in her place if they have went through this. Well atleast you have to be old enough to understand the lyrics besides that anyone can relate.

The author used the craft of unforgettable language in the song. It starts off saying “skies are crying” even though everyone knows the skies do not literally cry, but it paints the picture of the feelings of the singer. Anyone can create an image I their heads of the sky crying because it’s very simple as rain. In addition, I think the writer uses the craft of sense of place because it develop the person from being hurt into a person that is standing up for themselves, being strong, and not letting that person hurt them anymore.The writer did well using the craft. Throughout the song the writer communicates to the listener through metaphors to get a better sense of what the person is going through hoping that you will relate in some way. If the listener can relate it makes the lyric come alive and they feel like the song is about them. The person gradually turns into a stronger person by the end of the song.I think elements were used well. The beginning connected well with the ending, the theme was maintained.I used this song to inspire activities that build confidence within students, and find the qualities that each student possess. It makes me more aware of being mindful of not deterring students from thinking the best of themselves as "goo" writers. I want to make sure that when I am suggesting a different writing style that I am not taking away their choice of how they want to write in order to portray their story correctly.
