Professors Mileur and Sulzner examine an area of political activity that has received limited attention. Few efforts have been made to look at small scale campaigns for local or state elective office in any systematic way. Relying upon interviews and surveys of public records, 46 campaigns for the Massachusetts Senate in 1968 are explored in depth. In addition, aspects of the campaigns of candidates who could not be interviewed are also studied. The result is a comprehensive treatment of campaigning for state legislative office.
