I chose the book "If you Give a Mouse a Cookie" By Laura Joffe Numeroff. The genre of this book is a picture book but in an audiobook format, geared towards children ages 2 and up. This book is about how if you give a mouse a cookie then he will want a glass of milk. Then after you give him a glass of milk he will want a straw, then after that he will want something else and so on, so the story goes around in circles. I rated the book a 3 out of 5 because it tells the cause and effects of what might happen when you give a mouse a cookie. I thought the theme was good but instead of using a cookie, the author could have used cheese since that's a mouse's favorite food. Also, since this version of the book was audio I don't know how effective the illustrations, color, and texture of the book is. But the good thing about an audio version of a book is that it allows the children to use their own imagination and even predict what might come next in the story. Lastly, the sound in the audio was very clear and you could understand every detail of the story. Yes I would use this book with children,(the hand-held version and the audio version) because once again they could use their imagination while listening and even predict what's next.
