This is a celebration of the life of musical legend Donna Summer: international singing sensation and superstar.
Author and dedicated admirer Nik A Ramli takes us from Donna's early days singing in church choirs to the peak of her career in the 1970s - when 'Love To Love You Baby' and 'Hot Stuff' changed the way music was made - and describes how her musical output constantly evolved in the years that followed.
The book features interviews with other famous names from the industry including Gloria Gaynor, Paul Gambaccini and Pete Waterman, plus the input of an international selection of fans and musicians.
There were ups and downs for Donna Summer, personally and professionally, but her outstanding talent and unique voice never faltered and she continued to produce work that will live on for years to come; her tracks are frequently covered, sampled and used for film and TV soundtracks. Her tragic death at the age of 63 shocked fans eagerly awaiting news of her next album.
Nik A Ramli's account of Donna Summer's sensational career proves that she was indeed a truly versatile and inspirational singer and songwriter, not only the Queen Of Disco!
Apart from his unquestionable credentials as an avid music fan, Nik A. Ramli is an established interior designer whose work has been featured in shows and publications internationally.

The 'DONNA SUMMER' legacy lives on - INFORMATIVE IN-DEPTH OBJECTIVE RESPECTFUL & more
This is by far and away the best book I have read about Donna Summer. There are a few out there but none have come close to this excellent music biography and also with a great cover design.
'Donna Summer The Thrill Goes On' is a sincerely respectful work that does not engage with salacious rumours, but counts on evidence and good research. There is a lot of good info about Donna Summer's music and some great stories about it as well. In just a few days I have devoured this book and certainly there are numerous nuggets that I had not known despite calling myself a fan.
The book is excellent read with memorable episodes, such as the new interview with Pete Waterman about the 'Another Place And Time' album. The information about the making of the album and recording is fascinating. Interesting to read about the music industry and how Donna Summer and her melodies survives the ups and downs of the entertainment business.
I love the following chapters 'Journey To Her Heart The Virgin Tracks', 'There Goes The Diva', 'The Thrill Of A Live Show' and more.
The list of interviewees in 'The Thrill Goes On' is very impressive - producers, musicians, writers, broadcasters and fans. Even though Donna Summer not involved with the project she was aware of the tribute work. So read the book before you judge it. The book is a very interesting read and this is the author's first book. I will be looking for more by the same author. All I say is that you would not regret getting this book! It will be worth every penny. This is the music biography that someone of the late Donna Summer's stature deserved and it more than delivers. Happy reading.
This book is incredibly entertaining and full of details. It covered her earlier recording in Europe to her last recording! This is a really well put together book with a lot of detail about Donna Summer’s music and achievements. Donna Summer had it all mostly in the 1970s for her chart and recording success. After her disco world ended in the late 1970s it was a slow ride for her but Donna Summer continued her success. She recorded a lot of new sounds. Her last single was released in 2012 as a guest singer for O’Mega Red’s ‘Angel’.
Her fame, seductive looks, music awards, and the voice that all of us love so much and the information of the studio making of ‘Love To Love You Baby’, ‘She Works Hard For The Money’ to ‘This Time I Know Its For Real’ all have been covered in this book. Now I know what makes the songs such a great tune back in the day and today. I laughed a little, cried a little, and could not put this book down.
I loved how the book has been written and presented because it did not hold back any details. The author did not pretend to be an artistic writer. I can read between the lines he really adored his subject. He interviewed many major names in the media world, national and international acts including fans.
I know this book will delight all music fans and yes of course Donna’s hardcore fans. This book proven that Donna had evolved into an all round recording singer. Not just a disco queen. She is still a huge icon in the music world.
Firstly I'm not a `Donna Summer' collector or expert, still I have two of her albums `Another Place And Time' and `Crayons' which I really like.
I must say I love the book, very well researched; I was impressed by the early disco era information and it is interesting to read about her musical journey in the 80s through the 90s. She clearly dominated the chart more in the 1970s. The author also talked about her other creative sides - her paintings and the movie she acted in. This book taught me all I needed to know about her music.
I can honestly recommend this book. The information is incredible and very informative. I give this book a `5 star', not because of her death, but because I think this book should remain a valuable resource in the history of Donna Summer's music. For all music fans I can honestly say this book is a must have - a brilliant addition for any collector. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

This tribute project `DONNA SUMMER THE THRILL GOES ON' is informative and engaging in equal measure. The book is extremely well researched.
This is a very fine music biography exploring the late Donna Summer's music history. Nik's very detailed and I love his personal commentary. Even though I know some things mentioned about Donna here I still found a few new information in this book. For any music fans that wish to know or explore more about her music, this book will tell you that Donna Summer is a true star and she is not just a DISCO QUEEN. If you are looking for some cheap gossip this is not the book for you. Nik is truly respectful about his subject.
Nik has used some great existing quotes from his research and some new information that he has gained from Pete Waterman, Gloria Gaynor and many more. Nik also has included fans in his research which I found very interesting. Not many authors would include fans of their subject but Nik did.
The photo sections are nice to look at and very well put together. I must say it is sad that Donna is no longer with us. Still this book will keep Donna Summer's legacy alive forever. This book is a must have and a must read for all Donna Summer fans.Donna Summer: The Thrill Goes On. Nik A. Ramli
