Let’s get down to the meat and potatoes; this is an amazing book with a lot of cool facts about players, teams, match-ups, greatest shots, and more. I honestly learned a lot more about players then I did before I started reading this book about Basketball Greats. I have happened to read about my inspiration, Michael Jordan who got me into basketball and didn’t know anything about basketball until my mom taught me the main things I need to know about basketball. Then I fell in love with the game even though I was pretty much born when Michael retired but he was my mom’s favorite player.
I will tell you a couple of facts about Michael Jordan. He was always one of those players that will always put on a show every time he steps on the court. He won six NBA championships with five Final MVP s, and he won three in a row two times. He won many awards be sides getting six NBA Championships and getting five Finals MVP s, he got All-NBA Defensive Player of the year award, and Rookie of the Year coming from U.N.C. (University of North Carolina). Why he is one of the greats is because he would study his opponents and what their favorite moves are and their tendencies.
One thing I didn’t like this book is that they don’t mention some match-ups back then that were popular and weren’t even in the book. Like Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, people would always talk about these two and how Kobe shoots, acts, dribbles, and pretty much everything like Michael Jordan when they were playing against each other, I think of it as the student and the mentor. Two things that I like about this book besides talking about Michael Jordan is that they give amazing detail about every player they talk about and some players that were great but never won a championship. The other thing is that they have a couple of quotes in the book like, “I can’t believe he hit that shot. I don’t know how he stayed in the air that long.” and that quote was from Brad Daugherty when Michael Jordan hit a game winning shot against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
I would highly recommend this book to people who want to know more about the game of basketball and the greats. Before I read this book, I didn’t know that some of these guys existed and thought they were in movies just for the part and to inspire kids, I saw this one movie about Pistol Pete and how he can make any shot on the court and would put on a show. Until I read about him in this book. So I recommend this book to anyone who loves basketball just as much as I do.

I read the book NBA’s Greatest and the author was John Havlicek. In this book it talks about the greatest NBA players of all generations and this is a good book if you are interested in NBA and the history of basketball and the greatest of all time. As well on how the game has developed over time. This book talks about all the greats for example Michael Jordan and Larry Bird. This book also talks about the greatest moments in NBA history. Like Michael Jordan's game winning shots and even his 6 NBA titles. This is a good book but it wasn't exactly what I was expecting it to be.
I feel this way about the book because this book isn't exactly written like a book on every page it isn't a continuous book/theme. It has a new player on each page talking about the great accomplishments they had throughout their careers and as well as what teams they played on. I think this book would overall be better if they tied all the players together to be in a actual continuous book form. I would rate this book a ⅘ stars.
