John Coit was a columnist for the Rocky Mountain News. He died at 41 or so. Often times he wrote about his own life from a raw, honest place I've rarely found elsewhere.

As far as columnists go,you couldnt get more real than John Coit.It was like he would bare his soul to his readers on a regular basis. A Christmas column he wrote is still required holiday reading for me.

"Life is short and it hurts. Love is the only drug that works"
John Coit Jan.1,1986

He was at ease with Presidents and Street People alike, and how many newspaper columnist could proclaim loudly that they were Deadheads?

The Rocky Mountain News has folded like so many newspapers in this internet age..One day when there are no newspapers, someone will come across Coit's columns and declare this is what made newspapers great.

Copies of this book are rare, but cheap, but I'd say it's well worth it to locate a copy of this book

John Coit was a great writer. He would intuit other personalities and make them his own. Embellishment never slowed him down if it gave his story more emotion. He was loved by many. May he rest in peace.
