A lifelong friend finds something deep in the Everglades that is so very odd, that when he calls Jesse McDermitt, at first the semi-retired former special operator is in total disbelief. But he is also very intrigued, and the duo set out on another adventure reminiscent of their childhood days. But their youthful quest had been all about fun and make-believe. This one was real, waiting nearly a century to be discovered. There is another party interested in what Billy Rainwater stumbled upon. They have been searching for decades and will stop at nothing to recover what they believe to be not only their personal property, but their legacy. The Glades never gives up secrets readily.Deep in the River of Grass, untold dangers lurk, waiting to snatch the unwary. It raises its ugly head in the backcountry of the Middle Keys, as well. But when it finds its way into the parking lot of Jesse’s favorite watering hole, a line in the sand has to be drawn once again.

Can not put it down. Fast paced and twista and turns. Another great Jessi adventure and a couple of new characters added to the family. After loosing my best furry friend of 13 years I too felt the absence of toes on the hardwood floors. After several months I received a call from my vets office who asked if I was ready for a new furr baby. One of their clients was needing rehome his 13 month old Australian Cattle Dog pup. He had adopted this puppy from Miranda Lambert's shelter puppies in Nashville and was facing a double knee replacement in a few weeks. Holly got me walking several miles a day again. I love how Wayne introduced Tank to us at the end.
I'm now back to reading and giving scratches to my furr baby. I hope we discover more of what happened to the loot at the end. Starting "A Sellers Market" to get all caught up with Wayne's masterpiece of literary genius.

Plenty of Excitement!

This book was as good and as exciting as all of the other “Jesse” books! This one takes place close to home, or I guess it’s just at home, if you extend the area to include most of the keys. Although it does have a bit of a German flavor! These books that Mr Stinnett writes are perfect for me. Some travel, some villains, some knock down drag ‘em outs and plenty of suspense and mystery. I’m glad he’s written alot of theses books because they are exciting enough for me to go through them pretty fast. I’m usually anxiously awaiting the next one. I always recommend these books.

Continually Amazing

Although the storylines are mostly very different Mr. Stinnett never ceases to deliver mystery and interesting information. And though, this story lacked some of the adventure previously portrayed, It was so Informative with character development to define all our loved characters even more... Jesse's getting longer in the tooth so I imagine the danger will subside somewhat and give way to family and friends struggles and trial and tribulations, and that's OK!

Good story line! But didn't finish it!

I really liked the story line and found it to very plausible. As a Fl. boy and a retired Navy weather forecaster stationed at Boca Chica. I know first hand about the power of hurricanes (31 hurricanes/tropical storms so far).
Would have liked to seen the guys explore the sub, find something, gifted the Native American council. Who was the cowboy communicating with, not enough meat to that character? What happened to the normal overwatch by Cheryl or David?

Weigh Anchor by Wayne Stinnett is a thrilling adventure that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. Jesse’s journey, driven by a friend’s mysterious discovery in the Everglades, blends military precision, suspense, and survival instincts in a way that feels authentic and engaging. The action is relentless, the stakes are high, and Stinnett’s storytelling grips you from start to finish. Fans of action-adventure and military thrillers will find themselves completely immersed in this page-turner. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a fast-paced, adrenaline-filled read.

Another slight course chamge

This is the 26th Jesse McDermott novel, and I am.delighted to admit to having read all of them to date. Although i.must admit I probably need to re-reAd the last few, since I can't recall the events. But that's on me.

Stinnett has expanded the "family" with a distant relation of Rusty Thurman, tavern owner/operator and Jesse's best friend. As usual, trouble comes.along a few times as well. Lots of fun

I really enjoyed this latest Jesse McDermitt novel. I’ve read every single one starting with the “fallen” series several years ago. This one brought back Billy Rainwater, Jimmy and Naomi, and Rusty as primary characters in the story along with Jessie and Savannah. All action is in Marathon and the Everglades.
I didn’t want it to end.

A lot of action

Several tracks the action is going in this book. Not all are linked together... But they ARE linked by time. What will they do with the WW2 sub found in the Everglades? Has Rusty got a long lost cousin from WY? And why is she in FL? I can't wait for Jesse's new boat to be in use...

This was the worst book in the series. I usually love all of the Jessie McDermitt books but this one was boring. They spent too much time describing the new boat being built. The submarine they discovered was interesting but not enough detail as to the treasure that was supposed to be inside. Hopefully the next book will be much better!

Very disappointed. I've enjoyed most of the prior 20 some books but found this one dull and boring, It is filled with irrelevant detail about the construction of a new boat and other filler. I began to wonder if Wayne is using AI or a ghost writer...
I'll just move on and find other series to follow.

Weigh Anchor

Well, as usual, when I arrived at the end of the story, I wanted it to continue. Maybe there will be references to it in future stories. The characters are continuing to evolve which makes them real.
Thanks Wayne for keeping us interested. Rest in Peace, JB

Not the same Jesse McDermiit we all knew in Stinnett’s earlier books. I’d have a hard time calling them adventures. I’ve learned how to read what’s in quotes to get the story and ignore the other trivial stuff - like taking an entire chapter to describe a boat under construction.

Solo Wayne is the way to go!

After reading the co-authored 3 books, I was happy to dive into this. Not disappointed. The McDermitt saga continues and always has an ending to make you hunger for the next.

Great

Awesome storyteller. Love all the action. I skip the technical descriptions that only a mechanical fanatic would enjoy. Feel exploring the return of Savvy and Alberto, including the loss of Finn were missed opportunities.

Good read you learn a lot about German subs and new electric sailboats! Story was good as usual Stinnett gets rid of the bad guys in one paragraph after writing about them for most of the book but still a good read good to see Jesse in action again!

BETTER AND BETTER

I was worried how the last one ended… you made up for it with this one! Read these books in order - well worth the time even when you get the background info over and over. Fun, great scenery, adventure and likable characters.

ANOTHER GREAT TALE FROM WAYNE STINNER!

The only thing I didn’t like about this book was that it ended too fast! Wayne always knocks it outta the park & this was no exception.
