This is a U.S. Government publication.

It is a must read reference book. You don't need to read it all, just skip around to the parts that apply to your particular circumstances. Don't wait until you are at retirement age to read this. A successful retirement takes decades to get right. Lots of hard work, diligent planning, rule checking and updating, and a great deal of crystal balling of your personal situation and longevity go into your plan.

But it is a list of rules. It is dry reading. And due to the nature of a book of rules, it takes a great deal of time to read and UNDERSTAND what you just read. It is not for the everyday Joe or Jane. But the everyday Jane or Joe needs to read this.

This book concerns an extremely important and complex topic. It is a must read, but the way rules are written still require the help of a financial advisor with a strong Social Security background to get it right. This book did clarify some of my questions, but I continue to have an uneasy feeling that I am about to perhaps not do the EXACT right thing. Well, I will be close enough when I actually do apply for my benefit.

I rate this book highly, not because it is a pleasure to read, but because it is so important to get your Social Security benefit right, for your situation. Just like you really should have read IRS Publication 17. OR just trust that your financial advisor and tax preparer have your best interests in mind, while they work on your case along side the hundreds of other clients they service.

Have a GoodReads, and hopefully a Great Retirement.
