This is a useful book in a number of fronts. First, it profiles a number of Australian decorative artists - something we could well do with more of. Secondly, it covers a range of techniques, traditions and styles, giving an overview of the variety of work being done around the county. Thirdly, it provides templates and instructions to help readers inspired to try the techniques.

I borrowed this from my local Embroiderers’ Guild library. For those of us with an interest in embroidery, it’s history, teachers, pioneers, techniques and designs, this is a valuable resource.

>. Unexpectedly, this was all about Australian art and artists. Some of the textile work featured is really cool—the embroidered 17th century diorama particularly impressed me. Only a few of the artists were actually out of the ordinary, however. Most of them did very boring and ugly work, which is not helped by the fact that Australia has some very ugly flora.
