It is a good summary for those who don't follow up the IT news especially from open sources website such as sourceforge etc. Otherwise, there is not much new in the book.

The collection of OS projects in the books are the applications that you need for your web development project. This can be a good start before you delve deeper in each application. Plus, it gives you the big picture.

Ok, jst flipped through the pages but was impressed with the presentation of the latest open source technologies being currently used. Not for an advanced OS contributer though but a starter can have enough information to initiate a OS project.

Good book for a newbie in the Open Source (OS) world like me. Proper explanations and pointers to OS scope. Mature OS contributers do keep away from this. Newbies eager to join the OS revolution can use tis as the starter guide...not more.
