Detailed account of cabeza de vaca's travel from texas to mexico, maintaining that he did not "discover " new mexic. retraced friar Marcos' journey to the 7 cities of cibola, which bandelier maintains is zuni and its surrounding villages. Retraces the route of spanish forces to quivara in present day nebraska, where they were massacred by pawnee. Only for those academicians devoted to the spanish presence in the southwest in the 16th and 17th centuries. Footnotes mostly in spanish & french.
