Hyper-Real Creatures creation is a great addition to the advanced-level Maya user's library. The authors are seasoned professionals who guide the reader through some often-asked questions and challenges in modeling, rigging and facial setup. Their approach is clear and easy to follow, and the techniques are applicable to any CGI project.

This one is worth the cover price just for the TemplateSkeletonLE.mel script!
