Firstly, the book is only about 30 pages. So basically it is more of a guide than a book.

My issue with it is that it does not deliver what the title says. Most books that teach you any kind of programming have a "hello world" app in the first chapter or 2. This book does none of that. It is just a painfully slow guide to downloading a now out of date SDK. Which makes it worse than useless - it is also a waste of time. For some reason it has over 50 reviews on Amazon that are all 5 stars, but I don't think any of those people read it. I mean the title even says "ruby on rails programming" and at no point in the book is ruby even mentioned. The SDK is for Java. I don't get it.

The book covers the fundamentals of Android on a very high level. For anyone who wants to understand the architecture of Android, this book is not very helpful.

In addition, many concepts are outdated with the new Android OS.
