In this story the main character, Ermine desperately looks for his brothers who have disappeared. While looking in the woods he finds a giant eagle that can choose to turn into a man. This eagle knows that something horrible has happened to Ermine's brother and decides to take Ermine to his mother, who is a wise old eagle. The wise old women teaches Ermine to celebrate life and that he can heal from the pain of loosing his brothers through the rhythm of the drum and dance. Ermine teaches his community how to share in his celebrations and brings joy to his tribe.

I love this story because it shows the importance of music in Native American culture. I also love the roles that are displayed throughout the book, there is a large emphasize throughout Native American books on seeking wisdom from elders who are wiser.
