While reading this to my preschool class, I did have to explain a little bit about birth, which can always feel a bit awkward. One kid asked why the mom hurts (well, I added that bit -- when it's describing the baby feeling "hugs," I said those "hugs" often hurt the mom a lot) and I talked about contractions and then about the baby actually exiting . . . and was kind of stumbling on my words. But I suppose I chose to make things more detailed. Kids deserve honesty, but it can still get awkward!
This is a wonder book if a mother were going through the “Mommy where did I come from,” stage. It is very telling of the experience and detailed enough so children can get a grasp on how they came to be on this earth.
