An excellent encapsulation of the lies and deceit s especially from the British Government and Press/Media in regards to Northern Ireland and the treatment of the Nationalist/Catholic community by the army, the RUC, the UDR and the Protestant dominated government in Stormont. Neither the Conservative nor Labour Governments in mainland Britain had the guts, will or insight to turn the tide of oppression. As for revelation of the sectarian atrocities perpetrated, those by the Republicans got the full political and media condemnation, the atrocities by the Army, RUC and Unionists were ignored or tolerated. McCann had it right then and has it right now, transparency was ignored by all on the Unionist/British side and payroll.

Grew up during the "Troubles". Lots of this brings back memories that are better left as memories. Well written and I'd say fair to both sides. Enjoyed is not the right word but certainly worth reading. I wonder how much it would resonate with someone who didn't live through it though. I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has read it but not lived through it.
