There is no doubt that the prevention of diseases is an effective way to practice medicine on a large scale. Hence, a good understanding of the risk factors that can cause cancer and knowledge of how to prevent its onset will not only reduce the physical load, the suffering of patients and their families and costs to the cancer patient, but will also lend support to the health system by reducing costs associated with the high mortality and morbidity rates that are currently seen in relation to cancer. A further objective of this educational manual is to improve the communication between doctors and patients. Better-informed patients are able to voice their questions and concerns better, and in this way they will have greater control over the disease. This manual will be periodically revised and updated in order to deliver accurate and scientifically validated information. And it is also recommended to students of medicine, nurses and health practitioners. I hope that this manual achieves its objectives and that by educating, it may help combat the terrible cancer scourge that continues to afflict humankind.
