Valuable and comprehensive resource for those with an interest in London's social history. I had a much better appreciation of the river's role in the development of the city after reading this book. Filled with interesting illustrations and facts and statistics about the industries that sprang up around the river, the building of its bridges, its various communities, and its role in popular culture and literature.
