Cole Dyami is a mysterious boy with a dangerous secret. Adeline Jasely is a typical teenage girl. Living in the seemingly normal small town of Great Falls Montana, Adeline is confronted with everyday teenage problems by a not so normal beautiful boy.
As Adeline and Cole’s worlds collide, the line between illusion and reality is blurred. According to a tribal legend, Adeline and Cole are no longer two friends, but two pieces in a complicated mystery.
Suddenly, Adeline finds herself in a world she never knew existed. Along side Cole, she attempts to unravel the mysteries of the small Chippewa tribe in order to not only find out who Cole Dyami truly is, but who she is as well.
As Cole and Adeline begin to uncover the secrets behind the legends of the Chippewa tribe, illusion slowly unravels into reality and friendship gradually melts into a mutual need of survival.

Forget Me Not by Allison Blanchard is a unique story about shape shifters and first love. And what happens when destiny and fate completely transform the life you thought you knew.
Adeline is sort of your standard hotheaded, loner high school heroine. She thinks she's plain and unworthy of Cole's time, then develops an infatuation with him. I know Blanchard wrote Adeline this way for a reason, but it reminded me an awful lot of the way Bella sees herself in Twilight.
Actually, a lot about this story reminded me of Twilight. The heroine getting mixed up with a mysterious boy and learning his family's secrets. His uber-happy sister who takes an instant liking to Adeline. The main characters connection with one another. Although, the romance in Forget Me Not, I felt, had a little more substance than the insta-love that was Bella and Edward's relationship. At least Adeline and Cole had a good reason to feel connected. And, really, after the sudden beginning of their friendship, I felt their relationship plateaued nicely. But as I read further the similarities to Twilight just kept jumping out at me. They didn't detract from the book, but I did notice them and that sort of pulled me out of the story every once in a while.
Something I didn't understand was the way Emma, Adeline's older sister/guardian, felt the need to control Adeline and Cole's relationship. And the major bipolar moods she would go through regarding it. One minute she'd smile and tease Adeline about having a boyfriend and the next she'd be saying, "maybe you shouldn't see that boy anymore." I get that she'd want to protect Adeline from getting too dependent on a boy, but they weren't outwardly obsessive in their relationship. Emma had no reason to think the worst of them, yet she continued to do so to the point where I wanted to tell her to back off for Adeline. It was as if she were trying to let Adeline have the normal teenage experiences she never had, and then at the last moment would change her mind and try to protect Adeline from them instead.
Cole is the good natured love interest from Forget Me Not. He's a sweetheart with a secret and you'll definitely be reading faster, trying to figure out just what that secret is.
The mythology Blanchard wove through Forget Me Not was definitely my favorite part. The Native American legends she constructed were beautifully written and tugged you deeper and deeper into the story. Even though you can predict the mystery from a very early moment in the book, I found it hard to imagine where the story was going to end up. It had me flipping pages late into the night, trying to see what was in store for Adeline and Cole.
If you're a fan of shape shifters and paranormal romance I highly suggest Forget Me Not. With its unique storyline it's sure to drag you in and not let go until the very last page.
This book was interesting right from the beginning to the end. Forget Me Not takes you on a journey through Adelines life from being just a normal teenager in school to meeting that hot new boy that just came to school where everybody wants to know his name and his story. Adeline is this young high schooler that lives with her sister because her parents were killed in a accident. She loves her sister so much but doesn't really care for her boyfriend which is a teacher at the school that Adeline goes to. She can't do anything without Henry her sisters boyfriend finding out which starts to cause trouble between her sister and her. Adeline meets this mysterious boy named Cole that just arrived at her school. She doesn't give him the time of day because he is this hot boy and she is this loner high school student that knows she couldn't get a boy this hot to like her. She keeps telling him to give the other girls a chance but his only interest is her. She doesn't know why but she ends up love being with him and starts to feel things for him. The more she falls in love with him and the more she wants to hang out with him she starts to learn things about his family and about herself all in one. She learns about shape shifters that are part of his family and then she finds out that the public isn't allowed on the reservation because of the trouble that they cause to the reservation. Then when she does go to the reservation with her sister for a meeting that she has to tape because she writes for the newspaper she notices all the people in the reservation running away from her and she notices a hawk flying in the air and that's when she passes out. She then finds out the reason why the people were running away from her because they think she was reincarnated with a lady that use to live in the village. So they thought they were seeing a ghost. Sometimes when you meet people you don't realize how many skeletons they have in their closet so that's why you should give them chances.
After reading some of the reviews on Good reads I noticed a lot of people were saying that Adeline reminded them of Bella off Twilight and Edward as Cole. After seeing that the story does remind me of Twilight. Bella fell in love with a vampire and Adeline fell in love with a Shape shifter. The other cool thing was it also took place on a reservation. So it could also be Bella and Jacob. You never know what your imagination will show you. Read this book and you can judge for yourself.
If I could sum up this book in one word it would be: sweet.
It reminded me of Twilight without the vampires and werewolves and love triangles. So basically, all the great parts of Twilight! I think it was more of the location and the Native American aspect. Other than that, I found the story of the tribes fascinating.
From the beginning Cole and Adeline made me smile. They were so cute and not at all “I just met you but I love you”. Adeline was a very naive character, which may have come off as someone lacking depth, but I think we will really see her blossom in the next book. I think sometimes characters have to be a certain way until it is time for them to grow. Cole was a guy having to come to terms with a lot of things — relationships with his dad and brother, the changes in his tribe, and the changes in himself. It was really great to see how he grew throughout the book.
And I hated the relationship between Adeline and her sister. Her sister was contradicting (as all parents/guardians/older siblings are). She didn’t want Adeline to date and was adamant that she be independent, yet she was in this serious relationship with her boyfriend. She wanted her to be involved, but gave her a hard time about being friends with Cole. I felt bad that she left Adeline alone so much, but I can understand how becoming a parent of your younger sibling at her age would be so tough. I can’t imagine having a teenager right now (I can barely handle 4 & 6 some days!) Even so, I hope the two will have a chance to work through some of those issues.
I’m really excited about where the next book will take us. Obviously, I can’t give much away because of SPOILERS, but I *think* one character introduced late in the book will end up being a very important person in this next installment. I hope I’m right. Ahh, and you have NO idea what I’m talking about do you? Well, I guess you’ll just have to read it and find out for yourself!
A beautiful tender love story that kept me wanting to read more. A gorgeous hero in Cole, I couldn't help but fall in love with him. Adeline had a difficult life and is swept away by the unexpected interest from the beautiful new boy at school from the Little Shell Reservation, but Cole has a deep secret that stems back into his tribe, the Chippewa's, history. Drawn to each other, Adeline tries to unravel the mystery while Cole tries to protect her from it.
This novel would have benefited from more professional editing, otherwise full marks for Allison Blanchard's debut novel.
*I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.*
My Review: This was a cute story. :) It had it's ups and downs for me, but I enjoyed reading it. I'm gonna do one of my listy things for this review, so stay tuned:
What I loved: 1. The Native American aspect of the story. I loved the tribe and the legends and the reservation in the story. I haven't read a lot of books that have that sort of stuff in it. I don't know much about any of it, so I'm glad there were lots of details. 2. Cole's sister. :D She was definitely my favorite character in this whole book. 3. The fallin-in-love part. Yay for no insta-love! 4. The supernatural aspect of this book! It wasn't exactly unique, but it wasn't something that is overplayed. It was a bit refreshing. 5. I loved that Adeline was a strong character for most of the novel.
What I didn't love: 1. I wish the main characters would have had a bit more depth. It was a little hard to relate to them. I enjoyed reading about them, but I didn't feel particularly connected to them. 2. Adeline's relationship with her sister. It didn't seem very genuine. I think that relates back to my first point though. If the characters would have had a bit more depth then I think it would have been better. 3. There was one point in the novel where Adeline was rather mopey. I don't think it quite matched up with her being a strong character in every other instance.
Definately more pros than cons for this book! This book was very similar to Twilight (and I don't say that like it's a bad thing), so all you Twilight fans might like this one. I'm not sure if I would re-read this book, but I would definitely read book two!
I won this book for free through Goodreads First Reads.
This book reminded me alot of Twilight except that I didn't feel there was enough depth in the characters. I felt like it just skimmed the surface of the character personalities. It skipped over alot of small details that should have been there to fill in the holes and just skipped to the big events. It was good and interesting with a great plot but I just wanted more details. I wanted to know where everyone came from, how they became who they were and I just didn't feel that. I loved how dramatic it was and hope that the sequel gives more details.
