This is a small book, mostly photographs and diagrams (patterns to transfer). There isn't a lot of content, so if I had paid the full price of $12.99, I may have been disappointed, but since I paid 60% less, I am happy to have it.
The designs are universal; I do not feel the French influence. As a matter of fact, it feels very vintage American, employing mostly running stitch and backstitch, but I am happy to have the book for inspiration.
