This book is listed as being written in 2011 but it was actually first published in 1993 which is much more in keeping with the technology references in the narrative. No one uses cell phones and needs a phone book to find telephone numbers for instance. It is also not listed as a romance on it GR main page to my dismay

I liked the book overall, but aspects of the plot were either a) completely unbelievable or b) overly predictable. It was simply ridiculous to think certain characters would act the way they did or that some things would go on without people's knowledge. And the end was so predictable that you almost didn't believe it! Lest I have a spoiler review, I will leave it at that. The book was entertaining and thrilling, it just had some plot problems.

This is probably my favorite Haines book yet. I love that she continues her great visual writing, placing the reader in the book. However, she continues to walk on the darker side of southern life--something she's very good at doing. This book will make you look over your shoulder when ever you go into a barn, or look at a lovely southern home. It's a fun read that you won't want to put down! mbg
