Finding My Way

Rate this book
Inspired by Randy Pausch’s The Last Lecture, this is a collection of short stories and essays about the experiences and life lessons learned by a Chinese-American girl growing up in the Southern California suburbs. Drawing upon her extracurricular activities and traveling experiences, the book is written from the perspective of an adolescent rather than an adult or a professional. It provides some insight on the impact that parents, teachers, coaches, and other mentors have on a developing young person in molding her value system, critical thinking skills, and passions.

"While my life thus far has spanned only a mere seventeen years, I feel as though I have accumulated a lifetime of lessons."

Indeed the author Holly is wise beyond her years. When I learned that she deviated from the musical path to pursue interests elsewhere, I was incredibly shocked. Hopefully she has found her way.
