I liked this enough to buy the other books in the trilogy (the first is enticingly free as an ebook), but I had serious problems with the whole thing. There was far too much flopping about between the past and the present, and almost always the historical parts seemed like a really irritating way of filling in unnecessary backstory when I wanted to get on with the current day plot.
I found it difficult to identify with the characters, and though some aspects of the story were intriguing, it really lacked the plot complications and energy to work as a Dan Brown style thriller.
