Black Yellowdogs: The Most Dangerous Citizen Is Not Armed, But Uninformed

Rate this book
It has often been said, ""What you don't know won't hurt you."" Not true. Ignorance is deadly. Have you ever heard of the phrase forty acres and a mule? Do you know how slavery actually began in America? Did you know the KKK lynched over a thousand white people? Do you know why? Have you ever wondered, ""What do African Americans want?"" Why they vote Democrat? Did you know that most Blacks DO NOT support Affirmative Action? Who speaks for African-Americans? Does Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, and others, really speak for Black America? Who elected these ""civil rights leaders?"" If you have ever considered, even briefly, any one of these questions, or others, in the area of race relations, then you need your own copy of Black YellowDogs. (What does ""black yellowdogs"" mean, anyway?) Buy it, read it, mark it up, look up the facts, burn it, or better yet give it to one of your white or black friends and talk about it. Remember, the most dangerous citizen is not armed but uninformed.

Written by an African American, this book sheds light on the political process and the plight of African Americans.

Ben explains the first black slave and it's not as you thought. A wealthy African American had indentured servants. Not wanting to lose them he went court and won his case.

Several others misconceptions are cited in the book.

Quote from the Book: Let the record show, no Democratic president or Democrat-controlled Congress from 1875 to 1965, including JFK, has, absent political or public pressure, voluntarily initiated any meaningful civil rights legislation for African Americans.

NAACP sued Governor Clinton in 1989 for violating federal Voting Rights. (Discrimination against African Americans.) The NAACP won the lawsuit and forced Clinton to redraw Arkansas's electoral districts.

Very good read, one I recommend highly.

Kinchlow is questioning why black culture tends to vote Democrat even though their political views tend to line up with Republicans. Especially when Republicans have historically fought for equal rights and Democrats have fought against them.

I enjoyed it. There are some things that I want to verify.

A curious book making some interesting points, but primarily in a preaching-to-the-choir style, the choir being black conservatives. An odd gift from my father that I never would have bought myself. I don't regret reading it, but I don't sing in that choir...

Must read!

Wonderfully written overview of American history, race, and politics. Very objective and inclusive of various points of view. I know this author to be nonpartisan and trustworthy.
