Are there spiritual truths to be gleaned from the world of baseball? Borrowing colorful anecdotes from America’s favorite pastime, David B. Smith finds eternal lessons from the countless Dodger games he has watched – and often endured. From the ineptitude of Bob “Mr. Baseball” Uecker to the famous Kirk Gibson homer in ’88, we find renewed faith from an ancient book that actually starts out with: “In the big inning.”

He made some interesting analogies, but, while I enjoy watching an occasional ballgame, this was just a bit too much baseball talk for me.

You don't have to understand baseball to relate to this book. I like how David Smith takes the game of baseball and relates it to life and thoughtful Christian principles.
Like talking about rituals that players do every time the are up at the plate. Then relates it to the symbols that are used in the religious world. He then states that, "human experience is that symbols can very easily become hollow and mechanical. They can quickly lose their intended impact".

Chapter 3: Tape Delay talks about the sacrifice of Christ and how it is even for those that know will not be saved. When it's related to baseball taping it takes on a new insight.

Read the book, you'll enjoy it!!!
